Michael Allen
AttorneyMichael graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law and practices natural resources law near Houston’s Energy Corridor in Katy, Texas. He is admitted to practice in Texas and is a member of the Oil, Gas & Energy Resources Law Section and the College of the State Bar of Texas.
Over the course of more than two decades in the energy industry, Michael has worked both upstream and midstream operations and transactions throughout most Lower 48 unconventional basins. After beginning in a traditional law firm private practice, he embarked on his oil and gas career. Michael worked first as a field landman focused on title research and examination, due diligence, and negotiations with surface and mineral owners. He later transitioned into full-time legal practice preparing drilling, division order, stand-up, and acquisition title opinions throughout Texas. Michael then accepted a role at Hess Corporation, where he spent the next twelve years overseeing A&D transactions, negotiations, and dispute resolutions, as well as title, contractual, operational and regulatory matters while leading as the US Onshore Senior Land Manager. Joining Oram & Houghton, PLLC to focus on title opinions and transactional matters enables Michael to utilize his broad-based and extensive experience in providing legal counsel to clients.
